When the Partnership began in 04 the percentage of KS1 pupils accessing 2 hours was low, 45%, over the next four years it has grown to 93%. This has, in part, been due to the professional work undertaken by The FitKid organisation. They have now worked in almost all our infant/primary schools including our special school. They have made an impact on thousands of our pupils and started many on the path to a healthier lifestyle.
They make physical activity fun and because of their training policy you can have complete confidence in the delivery. Their approach is totally professional; once they have the list of schools to be targeted they do it all, evaluations are always positive. They promote a healthy lifestyle in a safe fun way. The initial funding was from the Big Lottery and targeted children with poor motor skills or poor social skills. Staff and TAs who supervised classes were soon incorporating ideas into curriculum lessons. They have a truly multi-skill approach and the increase in confidence it brings to the pupils in a short space of time is noticeable. This has helped influence schools to increase the amount of PE on the curriculum. We now use Sports Coach money to support the activities in schools who have ceased to be Big Lottery funded. I continue to find sources of funding for their activities as I feel their contribution is invaluable.

I have worked with FitKid for the past 4 years, both to support arranging sessions in many primary schools across the borough and also to use their instructors in my own school. On all occasions, they have been a very professional outfit. The instructors have also been very professional in their delivery, making the sessions very enjoyable for the children who have always enjoyed joining in. The children have always commented as to how quickly the session seems to have gone, due to them being continually working and involved.
The instructors have also worked well to involve all pupils and have always been open to advice on how to support individual pupils.
My pupils always enjoy FitKid coming in and still remember their experience several years on!
